Become a governor.

One vote, however much you hold. Every rule change goes through governors like you. So will the off switch, once it's built.

How a decision is made

  • One vote per governor, regardless of holdings.
The person with $10,000 in STORE has the same vote as the person with $1,000,000. The ceiling applies to governance weight - not capital.
  • Before launch: a decision moves forward when a third of votes cast say yes. One final ballot before launch takes 51%. Protocol settings take 51%. After launch: the biggest decisions, including money rules and the off switch, take two-thirds of votes cast and at least 43 yes votes.
  • Every ballot asks for at least a third of governors taking part (42 of 126 today). Approval is a share of the yes and no votes cast.
  • Governors can overrule STORE Research with two-thirds of votes cast.
    That is checks and balances.

How your vote counts

FOR
Counts as taking part, and as a yes.
AGAINST
Counts as taking part, and as a no.
ABSTAIN
Counts as taking part, but not as a yes or a no. It says: I was here, and I have no position.
NO VOTE
Doesn't count toward anything.

The off switch

The off switch is designed and being built for First Governance, covering STORE-operated compute and bridge and access. Once live, turning it on takes two-thirds of votes cast, with at least a third of governors taking part, and, after launch, at least 43 yes votes. Each new public record of a fix opens one vote to turn it back on. It never touches balances. Until authority transfers to the Judicial Branch, STORE Research holds time-limited emergency authority, and every use is on the public record. Extensions to chips, energy, and orbit are in research, not live.

The record

126 governors · 30+ countries · 2,200+ days · zero violations of the one-third ceiling. The largest vote share any governor has: 1 in 126 (0.8%).

The price record. In January 2022, as the crypto market fell, governors voted to raise the token's price from $0.049 to $0.069, a 41% increase. It passed narrowly, 9 votes to 8. Within the same month, they reversed it. By 17 votes to 2 (89.47%), they reset the price to $0.035. In June 2022 they set it at $0.039, where it stands today: 20% below where it started.

The record fits what the math predicts. It doesn't prove it.

Why capture is hard

No governor may hold more than a third. The protocol is designed to refuse a change that breaks the ceiling.

Taking over a third of STORE today would take 43 of 126 governors. Each governor is a separate verified person or organization with one vote, however much they hold. The network is designed to keep working with up to 41 governors acting in bad faith. The 42 who must take part in a vote is a separate number.

Every new governor raises that number.

Where your vote applies

  • Hamilton AI - Constitutional Core: Live.
The rules every other layer answers to.
  • Layer 1, Constitutional Cloud: live today on five data center locations.
STORE's own Constitutional Data Centers are in development.
  • Monetary rules, such as supply parameters and the price-governance rules, go through governors.
Before launch, First Governance sets the token price by ballot. Today's price, $0.039, is the price governors voted for in June 2022. STORE Research or a lead investor can propose a new price, and it changes only if governors approve it. After launch, the market sets the price.

Seek a seat in First Governance

3
Second Governance
Auction-based governance. First Governance participants compete in quarterly auctions. Winning an auction bid is not a seat: a separate two-thirds election by existing governors decides who is seated. Second Governance has not yet launched.

Maximum individual position: 1% of total authorized supply (10 million STORE, about $390,000 at today's governor-set price of $0.039).

Governor rewards

Governor rewards are not offered today. Any rewards program would require governor approval and regulatory review first.
